Amitav Ghosh

Vikram Seth

Arundhati Roy

Suzanna Arundhati Roy is an Indian novelist, political activist and actor. She is best recognised for her activism in environmental and human rights causes and critically acclaimed book "The God of Small Things (1997)."

Her works include Capitalism: A Ghost Story (2014), Field Notes on Democracy: Listening to Grasshoppers (2009), Broken Republic: Three Essays (2011), The Algebra of Infinite Justice (2002), War Talk (2003), Public Power in the Age of Empire (2004), and Power Politics (2001). She gained notoriety for her bestseller "The God of Small Things," which was written by an Indian author who was not an expatriate and won the 1997 Man Booker Prize for Fiction. In order to examine modern India, she wrote The Ministry of Utmost Happiness in 2017, which has a vast cast of characters, including a transgender lady and a resistance fighter in Kashmir.

Mulk Raj Anand

He is a well-known Indian writer of English-language novels, short tales, and critical essays who is renowned for capturing the harsh realities of Indian society.

His books Coolie (1936) and Untouchable (1935), which examined the issues of poverty in Indian society, brought him fame. The Village (1939), The Sword and the Sickle (1942), and The Big Heart (1943) are some of his other notable works (1945; rev. ed. 1980). Anita Desai

She is an Indian writer and children's book author who specialised in using vivid imagery to convey character and atmosphere in her novels.

She has authored several works for both adults and children, including The Village by the Sea (1983), which won the Guardian Prize, Clear Light of Day (1980), and Fire on the Mountain (1977), for which she was honoured by India's National Academy of Letters. She became more well-known because of the 1999 Booker Prize finalist novel Fasting, Feasting. Amita Desai also enjoyed writing short stories, which she collected in the volumes Games at Twilight, and Other Stories (1978), Diamond Dust, and Other Stories (2000), and The Village by the Sea for kids (1982).
